At ASB, we champion the idea that the best way to ensure sustainability is to opt for high-quality products. Quality items last longer, reducing wastage and the need for frequent replacements.

Prioritising durable and functional merchandise

It’s not just about being sustainable, but ensuring that the end product is durable and purposeful. A product made sustainably, but of poor quality or one that lacks practicality will ultimately be discarded prematurely. This counters the very essence of sustainability.

Our approach? We advocate for fewer, higher-quality products over larger quantities of lesser-quality ones. When clients approach us with a product in mind, our branded merchandise experts often guide them to more impactful alternatives. We offer expertise, a treasure trove of samples in our showroom, and a dedicated design team – a holistic experience far removed from mere online shopping.

Supporting Australian suppliers: A commitment beyond margins

ASB has always placed people and principles before profits. While there may be increased margins in sourcing directly from overseas, we’ve chosen to support Australian businesses. Why? It’s simple. These businesses regularly audit factories, ensuring ethical conditions and product quality. They are taking strides to reduce environmental footprints – eliminating polybags, using FSC-certified packaging, and promoting ethical sourcing. By choosing to brand products locally, we are not only bolstering the Australian job market but also ensuring unparalleled quality control.

Our commitment to carbon responsibility

We’re not just talking the talk; we walk the walk. Partnering with Carbon Neutral for over two years, we’ve delved deep into our carbon footprint, from product deliveries to everyday operations. Initiatives such as installing solar panels, optimising IT for remote work, and recycling are just the tip of the iceberg. Through rigorous audits, the carbon emissions we couldn’t eliminate were offset by purchasing carbon credits, which have been used to plant over 4,000 trees in the Northern Wheatbelt. Our efforts exceed the basic requirement, making us Carbon Negative.

Your guide to genuine sustainable claims

While the world of sustainability can seem like a dense forest of claims and counterclaims, businesses must navigate with integrity and clarity. The Australian Consumer Law (ACL) outlines clear principles to ensure trustworthiness and transparency in environmental claims:

Accuracy and Truth: Ensure all claims are factual and honest.

Evidence-Based Claims: Claims should be backed by credible, preferably scientific, evidence.

Full Disclosure: Do not omit crucial details that consumers need.

Transparent Qualifications: Clearly explain the specifics of any environmental benefits.

Avoid Ambiguities: Be specific in claims and avoid broad, open-ended statements.

Simplicity in Language: Avoid jargon; use understandable language.

Visual Integrity: Ensure that visuals accurately represent the claim being made.

Openness About Transition: If your sustainability journey is ongoing, be open about your objectives and the steps you’re taking.

Our dedication to these principles reflects a broader mission within the branded merchandise industry. At ASB, we strive not just to be a business, but to contribute to a more sustainable future.
